The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the licenses of two edible oil repacking units located in Akola’s MIDC. This action follows suspicions of adulteration and reported violations concerning the sale and handling of edible oil. The FDA’s decision underscores ongoing efforts to ensure food safety and compliance within the industry.
Similarly, FDA team seized 3,598.4 kg of edible oil valued at 5.61 lakh at another establishment. Inspection reportedly revealed that the laboratory at the unit was not updated and lacked reports.
Officials said the action was part of efforts to ensure compliance with food safety standards and prevent the sale of substandard or adulterated edible oil. Officials further found the establishment held a licence for repacking edible oil but was allegedly also engaged in trading activities. Food safety officer Kishor Borchate monitored the action. Officials also found the sale of loose edible oil and other deficiencies related to food safety norms. Food safety officer Ravindra Solanke carried out the action.
