Taking into account the prevailing water scarcity across Navi Mumbai, CIDCO Ltd has intensified its efforts to ensure equitable water distribution, streamline supply across its nodes and prevent misuse by strengthening water supply monitoring, GPS tracking of all water tankers provided by Cidco to residential buildings and strict CCTV camera surveillance at 11 major water tanker filling stations to maintain accurate records of daily water distribution.

For GPS tracking of tankers, all 34 water tankers are equipped with GPS systems to monitor their routes and delivery locations. Through CCTV surveillance, all 11 major tanker filling stations are under strict surveillance to maintain accurate records of daily water distribution. Any confirmed instances of irregularities will invite penalties and stringent legal and penal action.

Cidco spokesperson said that restrictions have been imposed on misuse of water supply by tankers, prohibiting developers from using it for construction activities. Also, in case tanker-supplied water is found to be used in swimming pools, the concerned society’s tanker water supply will be discontinued immediately. For digital monitoring, a comprehensive water portal featuring GPS tracking and OTP-based access is under development. Until its launch, daily updates are being maintained through Google Sheets. CIDCO is also coordinating with the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) to address water shortages in Kalamboli and has also corresponded with Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation regarding regular and adequate water supply. Housing societies in Cidco nodes are urged to co-operate and wisely use potable water.

Cidco’s vigilance department team is examining earlier complaints.
