Under the guidelines, men and women must wear attire extending below the knees to enter the temple
Vivek Bhide, a trustee of Sansthan Shreedev Ganpatipule, noted that the dress code had actually been announced nearly a year ago, with awareness boards distributed to local hotels and lodges.
“However, despite repeated appeals, visitors continued to arrive at the temple in skimpy clothing, prompting the trust to strictly enforce the rules from the start of 2027,” Bhide said.
New Dress Code Implemented at Ganpatipule Temple
Ganpatipule Temple has introduced a new dress code requiring all visitors to wear attire that extends below the knees. This guideline applies to both men and women, explicitly prohibiting shorts, skirts, and dresses that are above knee length. Additionally, clothing with vulgar messages or prints will not be allowed. Children under the age of 10 are exempt from these restrictions.
Notices outlining these rules have been posted outside the temple grounds. Temple officials have indicated that the decision was made in response to an increasing number of visitors arriving in beachwear, which is becoming more common due to Ganpatipule’s popularity as a coastal tourist destination.
