BJP Blames Opposition for Water Project Delays

Members of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have sharply criticized the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi government for alleged delays in addressing the city’s water issues. BJP corporator Rajgaurav Wankhede specifically pointed to the Shiv Sena (UBT) politicians, stating, “The city’s water problem is the sin of Shiv Sena (UBT) politicians. We have corrected that sin. BJP and Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde have corrected it.” This comment underscores the ongoing political tensions surrounding infrastructure projects in the region.

“Ruling parties are just making a buzz about the water supply project when nothing is happening on the ground,” Shiv Sena (UBT) corporator and former mayor Abdul Rashid Khan said, accusing the alliance of avoiding scrutiny by citing restrictions imposed by the Bombay high court. Even small local bodies, such as gram panchayats, have completed their water schemes, but our scheme is still pending for long,” opposition leader Sameer Sajid Builder said. Whatever grievances corporators have they should place it before the high-level committee — headed by the divisional commissioner — which was formed as per the orders of the Bombay high court,” he said.

Opposition members argued that while discussion on the project may be restricted, corporators have every right to question when people will receive regular water supply. As tempers flared, BJP corporators and standing committee chairman Anil Makariye attempted to calm the situation, but opposition members continued raising objections. “Discussion on water supply projects here is prohibited by the court.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation’s general body meeting on Thursday witnessed heated exchanges and repeated disruptions as opposition corporators cornered BJP-Shiv Sena alliance over erratic water supply and delays in completing the city’s long-pending water supply project.
