NAVI MUMBAI: A 45-year-old tempo driver was arrested by Turbhe police for allegedly molesting the 10-year-old daughter of a Mumbai police constable after calling her into his chawl room in the Turbhe MIDC area on Sunday afternoon. Turbhe senior inspector Sunil Shinde said the incident occurred between 12.30pm and 1pm.
It came to light when the girl’s mother went looking for her after another minor girl, who had been playing with the victim near Pisal’s room, told her that the “driver uncle” had called her inside. Police subsequently arrested Pisal and registered an FIR under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act for alleged sexual assault involving non-penetrative physical contact and sexual harassment of a child. On Monday, Pisal was produced before a Belapur court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
