Cotton Market traffic zone police inspector Ajay Mankar acknowledged that the location had become a major traffic bottleneck. NHAI officials, however, claimed that the agency had already constructed a road beside the disputed shop, but home guards deployed at the location were preventing its use by barricading it. He added that NHAI had not cleared the stretch properly, with construction waste still lying on the road.
“We had earlier held a meeting with NHAI and NMC officials and suggested constructing a road beside the shop, where sufficient space is available to accommodate traffic. A TOI visit on Friday found the stretch adjoining the flyover’s down ramp still barricaded, forcing vehicles travelling in both directions to share a single carriageway between Ganja Khet and Lal Imli Square.
