Luggage lid strikes 60-year-old farmer fatally on Palghar-Manor road (Representative image)
The Shivshahi bus was travelling from the Palghar depot towards Swargate via Manor at around 5.15pm when its luggage compartment lid suddenly opened, according to police. The deceased, Subhash Pagi, was a resident of Chahade-Sajjanpada in Palghar. The lid hit Pagi with force, leaving him seriously injured. He collapsed on the road and was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Pagi’s son-in-law, Anil Girhane, later approached Palghar police and lodged a complaint. Police are investigating the exact circumstances that led to the luggage compartment lid opening.
Pagi had gone to visit relatives in Devkhop on Friday morning and was walking back home when the incident occurred.
