Mumbai: A 21-year-old woman, working as a nanny, has lodged a police complaint after her explicit images were uploaded on Instagram by a user not known to her. On Sept 19, her fiancé called her up and enquired if she knew an Instagram user who had posted her explicit photos online. When she sent a direct message to the user and asked him to delete the pictures, he demanded a sum of Rs 10,000 from her.
She logged into her account and found a “follow request” from a user she did not know. When she messaged him on the platform to remove her photos, he demanded money from her. Amboli police have registered an FIR and are probing further. The complainant lives in Jogeshwari. She had given her fiancé access to her Instagram account. The complainant was taken aback. When she checked his profile, she found three photos of hers. Of these, two photos were explicit and included a private photo of her and her fiancé. Their faces in the images had been covered with emojis. She then approached the police and lodged a complaint.
