Mumbai: Four days after attempting suicide at Sion railway station, a 28-year-old medical officer serving in Satara’s Phaltan died at Sion Hospital on Monday. BMC Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (BMC-MARD) stated that Dr Rajendra Rupnavar (the deceased) faced alleged workplace harassment and undue external or political pressure While the exact circumstances of the incident remain unclear.
On Aug 27, Rupnavar had climbed a telecom tower and attempted to hang himself at Sion railway station around 7.45 am. Last year, a 28-year-old medical officer at the Phaltan Sub-District Hospital died by suicide after being repeatedly raped by a police sub-inspector. Someone informed the GRP who summoned the fire brigade. Despite repeated appeals by the police, he refused to come down from the tower and tied a noose around his neck. Firefighters soon brought him down and rushed him to Sion Hospital.
