Nagpur: A 19-year-old woman died by suicide, prompting her relatives to take her body to the Kalamna police station. They placed her remains in front of the building, demanding action against her alleged boyfriend, whom they hold responsible for her death. The incident has raised serious concerns about the circumstances surrounding her tragic decision and the need for an investigation into the relationship and events leading up to her passing.
Senior Inspector Praveen Kale said they acted promptly, registered an offence under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for abetment to suicide, and arrested Shillare.
The boyfriend, after two years in a relationship, had refused to marry her, relatives said. A large crowd gathered and tension rose until police registered a case and arrested the accused boyfriend, after which the situation eased. The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Later, cops sent the body for post-mortem. After taking possession of the body, the relatives brought it to Kalamna police station, sparking commotion and heated exchanges. Police are examining the video call and other evidence.
