Nashik : A motorist allegedly assaulted a 23-year-old traffic warden and threatened him with a knife after being asked to stop his car at Wadala Naka on Friday evening.
Police registered a case under BNS sections 132 for obstructing a public servant, 115 for voluntarily causing hurt, 352 for intentional insult and 351(3) for criminal intimidation involving a death threat.
Police said Pagare signalled the car to stop. The driver allegedly confronted him, saying he was “not a policeman” and had no authority to stop the vehicle. The incident occurred around 7pm on the road from Nagji signal towards Sarda Circle. Traffic warden Mayur Pagare, a resident of Jakhori village, was regulating traffic at the junction with police personnel and other wardens at the time. The driver then allegedly grabbed Pagare by his collar, punched and kicked him. He also took out a knife from his vehicle and threatened to kill Pagare. Pagare rushed into a nearby traffic police booth for safety. The driver allegedly followed him, kicked the booth and again threatened to kill him. Pagare later approached Mumbai Naka police and lodged a complaint. Provisions of the Arms Act were also invoked. Mumbai Naka police are investigating the case.
