Speaking on the development, Ajay Kumar , senior divisional commercial manager, Bhusawal division, said the railway administration is constructing a new goods shed on the loop line at Chalisgaon, while utilising the old goods shed for stacking and taking advantage of available approach roads. It is centrally located for industrial belts like Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Pune, whose businesses load goods from this location, creating a win-win situation for both the railways and freight parties,” Kumar said. Nashik : Bhusawal division of Central Railway is evaluating the feasibility of developing Chalisgaon in Jalgaon district as a major regional logistics and parcel hub in North Maharashtra. The initiative aims to streamline freight movement, enhance operational efficiency, and alleviate heavy congestion at existing goods sheds across nearby industrial areas. “Construction of new goods shed on loop line is underway. The facility is free from congestion and has excellent approach roads. He highlighted that Chalisgaon offers several infrastructural advantages, such as an active pit line for examination of parcel vans (VPs) and dedicated shunters for smooth attachment and detachment of VPs. Freight arriving by road from Pune, including washing machines and consumer electronics, is currently being dispatched towards the Northeast. Additionally, industrial products, ghee, and biscuits from Nashik and Mumbai can be loaded at Chalisgaon. The isolated goods facility at Chalisgaon allows transporters to bring their containers directly to the shed and complete loading without operational delays. The railways is receiving an encouraging response and is now considering increasing the number of vans. Download the TOI App.
