Officials said it will complement tourist attractions such as Ramkund, Kalaram temple, Sita gufa and Trimbakeshwar. Officials said the three projects could generate jobs and boost hospitality, transport, retail and other tourism-linked businesses. Nashik: The civic body has cleared three major tourism projects ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela. These include a Ramayana Theme Park at Adgaon, a Digital Experience Centre in Panchavati and redevelopment of Yashwant Market at Nashik Road. Mayor Himgauri Aher cleared them with modifications suggested by corporators. All three projects will be developed under the design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) model through public-private partnership. Under the model, private developers will finance, build, operate and maintain the projects for a fixed concession period. The facilities will then be transferred to NMC. The Ramayana Theme Park will come up on NMC-reserved land at Adgaon. Planned as a major tourist attraction, it will showcase episodes from the Ramayana using immersive technology. Plans also include a replica of the Shri Ram temple, food courts and shopping facilities. Civic officials expect the project to strengthen Nashik’s identity as a pilgrimage destination. They also hope it will encourage Kumbh visitors to stay longer in the city. The Digital Experience Centre will come up at Ganeshwadi Market in Panchavati. It will showcase Nashik’s cultural, historical and spiritual heritage through interactive exhibits, projection mapping, virtual experiences and audio-visual presentations. It is also planned as a year-round attraction for tourists, students and researchers. The third project involves redevelopment of Yashwant Market at Nashik Road under the DBFOT model. The PPP model will also allow NMC to undertake the projects without substantial upfront investment. Download the TOI App.
