Criminals caught by Ahilyanagar police in Ganja case
Nashik: The Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Ahilyanagar Police, in a joint operation with Sangamner city police, seized 152.61 kg of ganja worth Rs 76.3 lakh being smuggled from Odisha to Pune. The vehicle was intercepted and searched in the presence of witnesses, leading to the seizure of 152.61 kg of ganja . The two occupants, Dattatray Ichake, 33, and Shrihari Midgule, 35, both from Shirur in Pune district, were taken into custody. Police also seized the car, valued at Rs 12 lakh, two fake high-security registration plates (HSRP), mobile phones, Rs 17,970 in cash, empty plastic packaging material and identity cards. Sangamner city police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Police have launched a hunt for three other suspects allegedly involved in the network.
During interrogation, the suspects told police that the consignment had been sourced from Odisha through a person named Kumphu and was to be delivered to two persons from Shirur, Pune. Based on the information, police laid a trap near Saykhindi Phata along the Nashik-Pune highway.
