Navi Mumbai Hit-and-Run Kills Biker, Police Register FIR Against Driver

A 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run incident on the Mahape-Shilphata road in Navi Mumbai. The collision occurred when an unidentified container trailer struck his bike, causing it to skid and ultimately running over the rider. His friend, who was riding pillion, suffered severe injuries in the accident. Authorities are currently investigating the incident to locate the driver of the container trailer.

The fatal accident occurred near LTI Mindtree company at Shilphata, when the duo was riding from Mahape towards Thane on Monday past midnight, around 12.10 am. The deceased youth was identified as Durgesh Ganesh Bhagat, a resident of Diva (E), Thane, and his injured friend as Nikhil Nathuram Thetgure (21), a resident of Kurla. Acting on a complaint by Thetgure, an FIR was registered at Turbhe police station against an unidentified driver of the container truck, against whom BNS sections and the Motor Vehicle Act was invoked for rash and negligent driving on public way and causing death and injury to a person, as the accused sped away by neither informing the police nor providing medical help to the injured youths.
