Nashik Municipal Corporation Launches Property Tax Assessment Camps

The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) is set to conduct ward-wise camps throughout the city starting the first week of October. The initiative aims to identify unassessed properties and incorporate them into the property tax system.

These camps will enable property owners to finalize assessment processes and officially register their properties with the tax department of the civic body. This decision follows concerns from a recent standing committee meeting, where it was highlighted that numerous residential and commercial properties, including newly occupied flats, remain unassessed and outside the tax net.

Officials expect the drive to add around 20,000 properties to the assessment system and generate nearly Rs 15 crore in annual property tax revenue. Nashik currently has around 6.22 lakh registered properties across six municipal divisions, up 46% from 4.26 lakh in 2017-18. Panchavati and Cidco account for nearly 48% of the total. Cidco recorded the sharpest growth, with properties rising 54% from 97,517 in 2017-18 to nearly 1.49 lakh now. The NMC added around 30,000 properties last year, generating nearly Rs 45 crore. It has set a Rs 350-crore property tax collection target for 2026-27, against Rs 287 crore last year and Rs 256 crore in 2024-25.
