Palghar woman found dead in flat, husband missing

A 30-year-old woman was discovered dead in her flat in Palghar, with her body in a decomposed state. Her brother, who traveled from Surat after two days of unsuccessful attempts to reach her, alerted the police. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of death. The woman’s husband, who is currently missing, has drawn suspicion from investigators.

The deceased, Pooja Mishra, lived with her husband Chandan Mishra in flat no 201 on the second floor of the Funnel building near Ghodela Garden in the Satpati Road area. Pradeep Kumar Mishra, he had been repeatedly calling Pooja since around 8pm on Aug 22, according to her brother. After failing to contact her for two days, Pradeep travelled from Surat to Palghar on Aug 24. He immediately called the police helpline 112.

Police said the exact cause of death would be established after receiving the postmortem report. The couple had married around six years ago and Pooja worked for a private company. She initially did not answer and her phone was later found switched off. When he reached the flat, he found the door locked from outside and noticed a strong foul smell coming from inside. A police team reached the spot, broke open the lock and entered the flat, where they found Pooja’s decomposed body in the bedroom.
