Controversy Erupts at NIT Durgapur Induction Programme
NIT Durgapur hosted its student induction programme from August 22 to August 25, featuring participation from all 22 campus clubs, including Radio NITroz. A widely circulated video captured a moment when Saha, holding a microphone, interrupted a performance by Radio NITroz members. This dance was intended to provide a break from the routine of slide presentations and lectures.
The incident has generated mixed responses. Some defended Saha’s decision to stop the performance, while others criticized it. A former president of Radio NITroz shared on social media, ‘I was with Radio NITroz from 2019 to 2022 and, along with some genuinely amazing people, helped rebuild it from the ground up into the media and entertainment club it is today. The idea was never to make it another formal college society. We wanted a space where students could experiment, perform, make people laugh and for a few minutes forget about CGPA, assignments, exams and academic stress.’
