NAVI MUMBAI: In a broad daylight burglary, an unidentified thief allegedly broke into the apartment of a police constable in Agroli village, CBD-Belapur, on Monday and escaped with gold jewellery and cash worth around Rs 3.5 lakh. The burglary took place between 9.30 am and 2 pm when constable Pramod Shirke, 45, attached to APMC police station, and his wife, who is also a Mumbai Police constable, were away on duty. The suspect allegedly stole a 35-gram gold necklace and mangalsutra worth Rs 3.25 lakh, along with Rs 25,000 in cash, from a cupboard.
The thief broke open the locks of both the main and inner doors before entering the bedroom, according to police. CBD-Belapur police registered an FIR against an unidentified person under relevant BNS sections for lurking house-trespass and theft in a dwelling house.
