“During his interaction with commanders and troops, the Army chief emphasised that operational readiness must remain a continuous priority, with formations and units required to remain adaptable and prepared to respond effectively to emerging security challenges,” said the official. It was his first visit to the Southern Command headquarters in Pune after taking charge as Army chief. Gen Seth reviewed the command’s operational preparedness and ongoing capability enhancement initiatives during his visit. He was briefed by Lieutenant General Rajesh Pushkar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, on the prevailing operational environment, operational posture, training initiatives and measures being undertaken to enhance combat effectiveness and mission readiness. He called for greater emphasis on realistic and battle-oriented training, technology absorption and continuous refinement of warfighting competencies and Techniques, Tactics and Procedures (TTPs) in line with the changing nature of warfare.

Gen Seth also underlined the importance of greater jointness among the armed forces and accelerated indigenous capability development to build an agile, technologically empowered and future-ready Army. Commending the professionalism and dedication of personnel, he exhorted all ranks to remain mission-focused and maintain the highest standards of operational preparedness while continuously strengthening the command’s operational edge. During the visit, Gen Seth also felicitated distinguished veterans with the Yoddha Seva Samman for their contributions to veteran welfare, youth empowerment, environmental conservation and community service. The Army chief acknowledged the veterans’ continuing contribution to nation-building and emphasised that the bond between the Indian Army and its veterans remains lifelong. Download the TOI App.
