Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad cyber police have arrested a 26-year-old man who allegedly ran a cyber fraud racket from Dubai, routing money obtained through online scams through more than 150 bank accounts.
He was brought to Mumbai and remanded in police custody till Nov 4. The suspect, Sumant Ravindra Dasare of Nigdi Pradhikaran, was detained in Dubai with Interpol’s help after Pimpri Chinchwad police issued a Look Out Circular (LOC). A police team led by assistant inspector Pravin Swami brought Dasare from Dubai to Mumbai, where he was arrested in connection with a cyber fraud case registered here. The racket came to light in Sept, when senior inspector Ravikiran Nale and his team were probing mule bank accounts. They found two cybercrime complaints linked to the account of one of Dasare’s associates. The police detained him and he led them to the other associate. Acting on the LOC, Interpol detained Dasare in Dubai.
