Shahupuri police arrested a 24-year-old man after allegedly finding more than 1 kg of ganja

Kolhapur : Shahupuri police arrested a 24-year-old man after allegedly finding more than 1 kg of ganja in his possession in the Vicharemal area. Police suspect he intended to sell the contraband and are probing its source and potential buyers.

A search of his bag allegedly yielded 1.1 kg of ganja. Police seized the ganja and his mobile phone, together valued at Rs 60,000.

Police said inspector Santosh Doke received a tip-off about a youth allegedly selling ganja in the area. Police said he started running after seeing them. Doke said the accused is a worker and has previous criminal cases against him.

The accused, identified as Siddique Sameer Nadaf, a resident of Vicharemal, allegedly tried to flee after spotting a police team but was chased and caught. He sent sub-inspector Abhijit Pawar and a detection branch team to the spot. The team spotted Nadaf walking with a bag on his back. Officers chased him and caught him.

We are investigating who supplied him with the ganja and to whom he was selling it,” Doke said. “The suspect, Siddique Nadaf, has repeatedly stalked and molested a girl. He has three cases of molestation and one case of assault registered against him. Download the TOI App.
