Sanjay Shirsat

Shirsat said allegations of wrongdoing against anyone holding a high constitutional office warranted scrutiny. Without commenting on the merits of the allegations, Shirsat called for an inquiry and said the Centre should decide what action to take. If a mistake has been committed, it becomes necessary for the govt to take action,” he said. Pointing to the widespread traffic congestion and inconvenience caused to the public by the protests, Shirsat said the govt could not ignore the scale of the agitation. “Since the matter had reached the Supreme Court , the authorities also needed to examine why protests of such magnitude had erupted against one individual,” he said. Talking about the ongoing protest by Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) aspirants in Pune, Shirsat said the students were fighting for justice and their movement should not be opposed. Their concerns must be addressed and they must get justice,” he said.
“In a democracy, people expect someone holding such a high position not to make mistakes. “Students work hard for examinations, but incidents such as paper leaks undermine their efforts. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Shiv Sena leader and social justice minister Sanjay Shirsat on Thursday became the first voice from within the BJP-led NDA to say the govt should take the protests against chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar seriously and decide on an appropriate course of action.
He said the core issues raised by the aspirants were being pushed into the background as politicians visited the protest site to address a ready-made crowd and gain political mileage. However, Shirsat criticised political leaders for allegedly using the students’ agitation as a platform for their own political interests.
