Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : Jalna police have filed a case against six people for allegedly forcing a 43-year-old mini-truck driver who was transporting cattle to eat cow dung, hurling casteist abuses at him, and assaulting him and his minor son. On Aug 20, his cousin allegedly showed him the video circulating on Instagram, following which he decided to approach police. In the FIR registered at Taluka police station, sections 126(2), 115(2), 189(2), 190, 352 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) were also invoked.
The victim told us that he was initially reluctant to lodge a complaint,” Jalna superintendent of police Teghbir Singh Sandhu told TOI . The complainant said they threatened him against approaching police and warned that the video would be circulated on social media,” stated the FIR. Hiwale said he did not immediately lodge a complaint as he was afraid.
“The assailants force fed him cow dung. A video of the incident was recorded by the accused and shared on social media. “Another accused recorded the incident on a mobile phone and later uploaded the video on Instagram.
Though the incident occurred three months ago, the FIR was registered at the Taluka police station on Thursday evening under relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
