Family members and relatives of deceased IIT-Bombay student Sahil Wakode mourn outside his home in Yavatmal district on Monday
Yavatmal : The family of 19-year-old Sahil Ravindra Wakode, a second-year student at IIT Bombay , has demanded a CID investigation into his death at the institute hostel, alleging that the incident was not a suicide.
The family said the institute should have informed his parents had any such incident occurred. Ganga also questioned the institute’s handling of an alleged mobile phone incident during an examination, asking how Sahil could have used a phone inside an IIT hall where phones are prohibited.
Family Demands Investigation into Alleged Foul Play
The family of Sahil Wakode has raised concerns over potential foul play in his case, prompting them to submit a formal request for an investigation to the district administration in Yavatmal. While his parents travel to Mumbai to pursue the matter further, relatives have taken to the family’s home, displaying banners that call for justice for Sahil.
The family has alleged that caste-based discrimination, psychological pressure, and humiliating treatment may have played a role in the incident. However, these claims have not been independently verified.
