A LPG cylinder leakage caused a blast at a Sanpada snacks shop on Tuesday morning.
Purushottam Jadhav, Divisional officer of Vashi fire station said, “At 6.13 am, the Vashi fire station received the emergency call informing about a cylinder blast at a snacks shop in Pratik CHS on sector-1, Sanpada. The fire bridge team reached the spot within 5 minutes.
NAVI MUMBAI: Two men sustained severe burn injuries after a LPG cylinder leakage triggered a blast at a snacks shop on the ground floor of a society in sector-1, Sanpada on Tuesday morning. The impact of the blast was so severe that the glass facade of a hospital, located about 50 feet away, was shattered. Those injured were identified as Arjun Yadav (46) who has sustained 75 precent burn injuries and Manish Yadav (26), who has sustained 90 percent burns.
It was found that the blast was due to leakage in one of the three LPG cylinders kept at snacks shop. While, the glass facade of Suraj hospital located opposite to Pratik CHS was shattered due to the impact of the blast. Stay updated with the latest Navi Mumbai news.
Fortunately, the patients and staff at the hospital were not hurt. The two men working at the snacks shop sustained severe burn injuries and were rushed to NMMC hospital, Vashi. The blast even caused damage to two shops adjacent to the snacks shop and three other shops in the neighbouring Abhimanyu CHS. Download the TOI App.
