Upanagar police said Ashwin had been undergoing Agniveer training at the Artillery Centre

Police suspect the Agniveer died by suicide on the night intervening Wednesday and Thursday

Upanagar police said Ashwin had been undergoing Agniveer training at the Artillery Centre for the past 10 weeks.

“Around 6.40am, fellow trainees found him hanging from a barricade angle with a rope in the accommodation area where he was staying,” Upanagar police senior inspector Sanjay Pise told TOI . Police said no suicide note was recovered from the scene. The deceased was identified as Ashwin M, a resident of Kannapuram in the southern state. Upanagar police have registered an accidental death case and initiated inquiries into the circumstances leading to his death. Police suspect that Ashwin died by suicide on the night intervening Wednesday and Thursday. After the incident came to the notice of senior Army officers, he was immediately brought down and rushed to the Deolali Camp Military Hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
