Nashik: A couple and their two young sons were killed after being run over by a speeding train in the pre-dawn darkness near Takarkheda village in Jalgaon district on Thursday, with police suspecting the family may have died by suicide.
The victims were identified as Sunil Bhil (32), his wife Parvati (25), and their sons aged seven and five. The incident occurred around 4.10am on the railway tracks between Amalner and Dharangaon on the Western Railway division. “We received information from the railway authorities about two adults being struck by a moving train around 4.10am in the Takarkheda area.
Police believe the two children may have been with or behind their parents, as the loco pilot reported seeing only two adults.
Police said the impact was so severe that the bodies of the four family members were found scattered along the tracks when officers reached the spot. Police teams went to the spot and found the bodies of two adults and two children scattered along the track,” said inspector Dattatray Nikam, of the Amalner police station. Police said further action under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) will be initiated after family members are questioned and the investigation progresses.
Police have registered an accidental death report and are probing the circumstances that led to the tragedy. The exact reason behind the deaths remains unclear. No relatives have yet recorded formal statements.
