Kottayam: A medical board will be formed under the leadership of expert doctors to examine the surgical instrument (artery forceps) found in Usha Joseph’s abdomen. This is based on a letter from Ambalappuzha DSP KN Rajesh, who is investigating the case related to medical negligence. The board will be formed under the supervision of DMO Jamuna Varghese and will include expert doctors from Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram medical colleges. The artery forceps presented by the police in the Ambalappuzha Magistrate Court will be sent for forensic examination. Additionally, information will be sought from the Assistant Professor Dr Shahida, who led the surgery, along with other doctors, nurses, and staff involved. Based on the report provided by the medical board, more individuals may be charged. The Ambalappuzha police registered a case against Dr Lalithambika, the former head of the gynaecology department, based on a complaint filed by Usha’s relatives.
