Chennai: Election Commission of India will hold an all-party meeting in Chennai on Friday to hold a discussion ahead of the special summary revision (SSR) in the state.
ECI had announced the SSR of the electoral rolls with reference to Jan 1, 2027, as the qualification date. The commission would receive forms 6, 7 and 8 to make deletions, corrections and transpositions in existing entries during the claims and objections period from Nov 12 to Dec 11 of the SSR of the photo electoral roll 2027.
Chief Electoral Officer of TN Archana Patnaik will chair the meeting and brief the meeting on the schedule of the SSR exercise, officials said. It is a routine process,” said an official. Representatives from recognised parties, including DMK , AIADMK , TVK, VCK and NTK, will be invited for the meeting. The representatives of the political parties will be given an opportunity to air their views and suggestions on SSR. “Ahead of the SSR exercise, we will invite all the recognised parties to depute their representatives to discuss about the schedule and agenda of the campaign.
