NAMAKKAL: Around 200 members of the Tamil Nadu Association for All Types of Differently-Abled Persons and Caregivers were detained on Monday when they held a protest outside Namakkal district collector’s office demanding a higher monthly disability allowance and immediate assistance for pending applicants.

The protesters said the existing allowance was insufficient to meet basic needs. They said many applicants had been awaiting approval for months and urged govt to release funds quickly, arguing that delays were worsening their hardship.
