This ensemble is a product of the designer’s festive collection called Sindoori, which means “ceremonial vermilion” in Hindi. Genelia Deshmukh is an advocate for the old-world charm of Indian royalty, and her latest festive outfit looks like modern heirloom bridal wear. This glamorous piece of clothing, created with zari, zardozi, and marodi embroidery, brings to the present some of the most distinguished ornamentation styles of India. All these intricate and eye-catching details prove that heritage art can still be prepossessing and popular. But what made the look absolutely iconic was the detailed, centuries-old craft techniques, such as zardozi, marodi, and zari, used to beautify the red kurta. She showcased a contemporary outfit and combined the traditional patiala salwar style, thanks to the few pleats of her kurta, which made this look visibly different from the original. As for makeup, the look is characterised by clean skin and fresh face makeup along with a crescent bindi and voluminous hairstyle. Genelia has certainly made her mark in the world of festive fashion, proving that Indian culture has not died, it has rather transformed into something different and absolutely iconic.
