Kochi : Two people have been arrested for allegedly entering the rented house of a 15-year-old boy at Kunnathery in Aluva, abducting and assaulting him.

The arrested men are Munsir, 21, of Vikasavani, Kakkanad, and Shajahan, 23, of Muchamkulam, Aluva. One of the accused was involved in 10 cases, while the other was named in six cases, according to the police. The accused are Vishnu, 36, of Mamalakandam, and Vijayan, 58, of Kuttampuzha. The arrested are Sunil Kumar, 48, of Pallikkal in Malappuram; Anil Kumar, 55, of Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, also known as Nithya Chaithanya Swami; Latha Nair, 60, of Tiruvalla, who allegedly introduced herself to the complainant as Indu Menon; and Sindhu Dileep Kumar, 52, of Chirayinkeezhu.

The police said one of the accused had a dispute with a friend of the minor. Police said both men were involved in several criminal cases. Police said Vishnu, a bus conductor, allegedly took the girl from Perumbavoor in a car. Sunil Kumar allegedly approached the complainant by falsely claiming to be a director of a company operating at the SEZ in Kakkanad, according to the police. Police said the accused allegedly handed him a fake demand draft. Police said Nair is an accused in the Kilirur sex-trafficking case.

The arrests were made by a police team led by Aluva inspector P M Shameer. He was taken to a house in Peringala, where he was allegedly assaulted and injured with a blade. After learning that the boy’s mother had lodged a complaint with the Aluva police, the accused reportedly abandoned him near a bus stop at Kangarappady. The boy is undergoing treatment at a hospital. The police registered an FIR. The accused allegedly resisted arrest and brandished knives at the officers, injuring some. The two were subsequently arrested. They have been booked under sections that could attract punishment of up to life imprisonment. The investigation team was formed under the supervision of Aluva deputy superintendent Baiju Paulose. It included Shameer, sub-inspectors Benny Kuriakose and Suresh Kumar, and civil police officers Mahin Shah Abubacker, Mohammed Shahin and K M Manoj. The accused were produced before a court and remanded in custody. Police have intensified efforts to trace a third person allegedly involved in the abduction. Two arrested for sexually assaulting minor: Two men have been arrested in Perumbavoor for allegedly abducting and sexually assaulting a minor girl. She was taken to a house in Mamalakandam, where Vijayan allegedly confined and sexually assaulted her. The arrests were made by a team led by Perumbavoor SHO A Akshay Kumar, along with SI Arjun, ASI M B Zubair, senior CPO Shafeeq and CPO Shan. The accused reportedly held discussions with the complainant in and around Kakkanad and collected the money in several instalments. When the money was not returned, the complainant approached the accused for repayment. The complainant later learned that Sunil Kumar had not deposited the money with the company and subsequently approached the ADGP (Law and Order) with a complaint. The accused were arrested by a team comprising Thrikkakara police sub-inspectors Antony Cleetus and Anandu, SCPOs Baiju and Gurjar, and woman CPO Shabna K Kamal. The accused allegedly reached the boy’s house on Saturday afternoon looking for his friend, before forcing the boy onto a motorcycle and abducting him. On Saturday night, police surrounded two members of the alleged group when they arrived at a fuel station in Pallikkara.
