Madurai: Residents living at the Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation (TNPHC) quarters in Subramaniyapuram are facing a difficult situation as sewage continues to leak from around 100 houses within the complex.
Broken pipes and faulty connections to the underground drainage system have resulted in sewage spilling onto walls and the ground around the quarters without proper disposal, according to locals. Highlighting the prolonged neglect, Meenakshi, a resident, said, “This has continued for months, without being addressed properly. Some residents are considering the quarters.”
In response to the grievances, TNPHC officials said a repair work at Rs 25 lakh has been launched to fix broken pipelines and establish fresh connections to the underground drainage system. The work is expected to be completed for all 104 houses before March 2027.
