A senior corporation official said sanitation work is being handled by a small crew of workers who are not participating in the strike. “We are focusing on targeted cleaning of areas owing to a lack of numbers currently,” the official said, adding that talks are still ongoing in order to end the strike and resume normal cleaning work. Madurai: The indefinite strike by municipal sanitation workers entered its second day on Tuesday, severely impacting Madurai’s key commercial zones and major tourist hubs during the peak festive shopping season.
