Over 2,300 crore rupees were spent to upgrade facilities statewide. The infrastructure boom in the public-school sector took place between 2016 and 2021, when the Left Democratic Front government launched the General Education Rejuvenation Mission as its flagship project, spending more than Rs 2,300 crore to improve facilities in public schools. As many as 4,752 public schools have hi-tech classroom facilities, with such facilities available in every classroom. Together, these schools account for around 45,000 hi-tech classrooms . In addition, more than 11,000 hi-tech laboratories have been deployed across schools in the state.

Kerala’s public schools now match private institutions in infrastructure quality. This transformation occurred after the General Education Rejuvenation Mission began.
