Investigators said the bodies appeared to have been in the water for days. “The deceased, believed to be between 35 and 50 years old, had no documents or other items that could help establish their identities,” ASP Krishna Gopal Singh said. Police said they had found no evidence linking the two cases and were treating them separately.
Police are checking missing-person records and contacting police in adjoining districts to establish their identities. A resident alerted police after spotting the bodies in the river. A police team, helped by local residents, pulled them out. The bodies were sent for postmortem to determine the cause and time of death. Police are also trying to find out how the man and woman reached the river. The development came two days after the bodies of another man and woman were found nearby. Download the TOI App.
