Bijnor : Three men, aged between 45 and 55 years, were allegedly crushed to death after a tractor was driven into bystanders outside a liquor shop in Jamaluddinpur village under Chandpur police station around 9pm on Wednesday.
All three were seriously injured and were rushed to CHC Chandpur, where doctors declared Baburam and Udayveer dead, according to police. Strict action will be taken against those found responsible,” Bishnoi said. The incident triggered tension in the village with the victims’ families alleging that it was a deliberate act of murder rather than a road accident. The dead were identified as Udayveer Singh, Mahendra Kashyap and Baburam from Jamaluddinpur. Mahendra was referred to a Moradabad-based hospital. “The three victims had no connection with the dispute and were only bystanders. Police are conducting a thorough investigation.
Bijnor SP, Krishna Kumar Bishnoi, said investigation was being conducted from all angles and a preliminary inquiry indicated that the accused had a dispute with an egg vendor operating outside the liquor shop over money. The dispute escalated into a physical altercation, following which the accused returned to the spot on a tractor with family members and, while allegedly under the influence of alcohol, drove the tractor towards people outside the shop.
The tractor subsequently collided with an electric pole and overturned, injuring the driver, identified as Virendra Kumar , 27, from nearby Datiyana village.
Police later detained three persons, including Virendra, and said a case was being registered under relevant BNS sections. He was taken to hospital.
