LUCKNOW: A 19-year-old BSc first-year student was allegedly stabbed to death while he was sleeping in the verandah outside his house in Jayantipur village under the Bansgaon police station area of Gorakhpur early Thursday morning.

Police said the body would be sent for post-mortem examination after the relatives reached the village. At the time of the incident, Shubham was reportedly alone at home as his parents and other family members had travelled to Lucknow for his father’s treatment. After the incident came to light, relatives and villagers rushed to the spot and took the injured student to a nearby Primary Health Centre (PHC) by ambulance. The incident triggered panic and mourning in the village, with relatives and local residents gathering at the house after learning about the killing. Shubham’s body was kept outside the house pending the arrival of his family members.

She repeatedly fainted after receiving the news and pleaded to be taken to her son, according to relatives. His father, Swadesh Mishra, who is engaged in farming, has been suffering from a kidney-related illness for the past four to five years, and the family had gone to Lucknow in connection with his treatment and a possible kidney transplant. Shubham’s mother, Sudha Mishra, was in Lucknow with other family members when she was informed about her son’s death.
