More than 60 members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) protested at Lucknow University on Monday. Their demands focused on enhancements to hostel facilities, academic infrastructure, library services, and administrative arrangements. The protest highlights ongoing concerns among students regarding the quality of services provided by the university.
The protesters marched from Gate No 3 to the university’s administrative building and continued their demonstration for nearly five hours before submitting a memorandum to the vice-chancellor. ABVP Lucknow University unit secretary Aryan Kushwaha said the organisation had sought improvements in hostel facilities, including better food quality, cleanliness and access to drinking water. “The organisation has also demanded repairs, adequate lighting and furniture in classrooms and hostels, along with upgraded library facilities, including uninterrupted internet connectivity and access to e-journals,” he said. The memorandum further sought the issuance of digital identity cards, improved administrative arrangements at the university’s new campus, resolution of issues related to PhD admissions, and institutional IDs and other facilities for research scholars.
