Agra : An 18-year-old Class 12 student was allegedly shot dead and four others, including two women, injured when a dispute over dumping soil on farmland in Agra escalated into firing on Sunday evening.
Following the incident at Nibohra’s Garhi Dharamjit village, an FIR was registered under BNS 103 (murder).
Brijesh was struck in her neck and died at the spot while her uncle Ajmer Singh, his son and two others were hospitalised, police said Monday. The dispute was between residents Ramesh Chandra and Ajmer Singh, according to police. The two sides knew each other and there was a similar dispute between them a year ago which was “settled” a few months back, police further said.
After an argument Sunday, Chandra’s side allegedly opened fire killing Brijesh, daughter of Rajendra Singh. Rajendra, who runs a milk business, is the brother of Ajmer Singh. Brijesh was the youngest of four siblings.
DCP (East), Agra Commissionerate, Abhishek Kumar Agarwal, said, “A police team has started an investigation. Prima facie, the dispute was over dumping soil. Houses of both sides are about 100m apart. Three accused were taken into custody for questioning.”
