OBC morcha national president Amarpal Maurya accorded a grand welcome by UP BJP unit in Lucknow on Wednesday

Lucknow : BJP OBC Morcha national president and Rajya Sabha MP Amarpal Maurya on Wednesday said that the BJP was not merely a political organisation but “a movement” committed to improving the lives of people at the lowest rung of society. Addressing the gathering, Maurya said that the Narendra Modi-led govt had taken several historic steps for the empowerment of Other Backward Classes (OBCs), the poor, deprived sections and youth. On his first visit to Lucknow after assuming charge, Maurya was accorded a grand welcome by party workers and office-bearers. BJP workers gathered at Charbagh railway station to welcome Maurya with drumbeats, showers of flowers and slogans. Among those present were BJP state vice-president Neeraj Singh, state general secretary Sanjay Rai, OBC Morcha state president Prakash Pal and several other party functionaries. He added that under CM Yogi Adityanath , the UP govt had effectively implemented welfare and social empowerment programmes for backward communities. Targeting the Samajwadi Party and Congress, Maurya alleged that despite being in power for long periods, the two parties had failed to undertake meaningful and lasting measures for the uplift of backward classes. He claimed that while previous govts had treated OBCs as a vote bank, the BJP had ensured them dignity, opportunities and participation in governance.
