Prayagraj : NISHAD Party chief and Uttar Pradesh fisheries minister Sanjay Nishad on Saturday asserted that his party would remain with NDA in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and work to help BJP regain seats it had lost. Citing the previous Assembly election, Nishad said BJP had allotted 16 seats to NISHAD Party, of which it won 11.
He said the party would continue fighting for the rights of the Nishad community, whether it contested the elections as part of an alliance or, if necessary, on its own. Referring to the party’s electoral strategy, Nishad said its guiding principle was “jahan kam, wahan hum” (where there is a shortfall, there we are), arguing that alliance partners could help BJP bridge narrow vote deficits in constituencies where it had repeatedly fallen short. “The NISHAD Party should be given an opportunity to contest constituencies where the Nishad community has a sizeable presence and where the BJP has not won for nearly four decades,” he said.
He claimed that this performance formed the basis of the party’s demand for seats in constituencies with a strong Nishad voter base. Nishad was in Prayagraj on a two-day visit and held a meeting with party office-bearers to review preparations for the mega rally scheduled for Sunday. He discussed strategies to ensure maximum participation and effectively communicate the party’s message to the public. On the Gen Z issue, Nishad accused the opposition of politicising the concerns of young people. He claimed that if opposition parties were genuinely concerned about the rights of Gen Z, they would have taken concrete steps during their previous tenures in power. He also targeted Rahul Gandhi and Congress, alleging that they were using the issue to influence young people against govt.
