SHO Ishwar Singh said, “The driver has been detained, and legal action will follow. The trio were travelling to take a dip in the Ganga. The accident occurred near Tochigarh outpost under Iglas police station limits. The victims, Shiv Kumar , Bhola and Charan Singh, all in their early 20s, were seriously injured. Shiv Kumar was trapped under the dumper and dragged for some distance before being rescued. He was declared dead at Hathras district hospital. Police detained the dumper driver at the spot. However, while the vehicle was being taken to the police station, a crowd intercepted it around two kms away and allegedly set it ablaze. Iglas CO Kamlesh Kumar reached the spot with police personnel and brought the situation under control. Several people were detained. Police sent Shiv Kumar’s body for post-mortem while the two injured men remain under treatment. Download the TOI App.
