The gang allegedly collected ₹13 lakh in cash along with gold and silver jewellery before abandoning the businessman near Shaheed Path. Investigators analysed around 220-240 CCTV recordings and used technical surveillance, field intelligence and local inputs to identify the suspects. The accused intercepted him near his office, introduced themselves as police officers and showed forged identity cards, according to police.
Police said the victim remained inside the vehicle throughout the journey under threat. LUCKNOW: A Lucknow businessman was allegedly abducted and held captive inside his own car for nearly nine hours by a gang posing as police officers, who drove him through multiple routes towards Agra and back to Lucknow while threatening him with firearms and demanding ransom from his family. Six suspected members of the interstate gang have since been arrested by Krishna Nagar police and the surveillance team, while police are looking for other members, including two suspected masterminds. They allegedly forced him into his own car at gunpoint and drove away. The gang allegedly kept changing locations and travelled through routes towards Kannauj and Agra before returning towards Lucknow. Investigators found that one vehicle was used to escort the car in which the victim was held, with its number plates allegedly changed to avoid detection. At one point, three gang members reportedly got out and followed the victim’s vehicle separately. After Ghosh approached the police, an FIR was registered at Krishna Nagar police station.
Additional DCP, South Zone, Vasant Kumar Rallapalli, said the victim, identified as Sudarshan Ghosh, was abducted on September 12 while he was travelling to his office.
