Former CBI Director M Nageshwar Rao
VARANASI: Former CBI Director M Nageshwar Rao has announced a new chapter in his public life from Kashi , taking charge as the National President of the Sarvajana Sanatan Party (SSP).
Rao, referring to his nearly four decades of experience in security, law and order, and administration, said India’s reconstruction cannot be limited to administrative reforms and that the country needs to pursue modern development while remaining rooted in its civilizational heritage.
He said the Sarvajana Sanatan Party’s vision of Sanatan goes beyond a method of worship and represents a way of life rooted in truth, dharma, duty, compassion, justice, self-control, nature, family, society and public welfare. The party said its objective is not to return to the past but to build a modern India rooted in its civilizational heritage. It said the vision is for an India that is technologically and economically modern while remaining connected to its cultural identity. Rao also said Sanatan should not be viewed only as an electoral symbol, but through its values in education, health, livelihoods, governance, culture and social life. Rao clarified that Sanatan is not against anyone and said the party’s objective is not to oppose any caste or community, but to work for all rather than create social divisions. Describing Kashi as the starting point of his new political chapter, Rao said India’s goal should be to balance modernity with its civilizational roots. Having closely observed the administrative system, he said he had entered politics to put his experience to use for the larger interests of the nation and society.
The party’s office-bearers elected him to the post.
