Bulandshahr: Four people were killed and one injured after the SUV they were travelling in swerved and overturned several times on the Ganga expressway in Hapur late on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Joginder Singh, 26, of Palpur village; Sukhbir Singh , 25, and Jaswant Singh , 20, both of Mewli village; and Ravi Kumar, 20, of Purdalpur village, all in Budaun district. Vishnu, 17, also of Palpur village, suffered minor injuries and was discharged after treatment.
Police said the SUV was travelling from Budaun towards Delhi. Additional SP Vineet Bhatnagar said, “The SUV suddenly swerved, went off the road and overturned five to six times before coming to a halt on the roadside. Passersby informed police, following which a team reached the spot and took all five injured to Sikhera community health centre, where doctors declared four of them dead.”
Joginder, who owned the SUV, was a farmer. Ravi worked in Delhi, while the others worked in plastic and polyester manufacturing companies in the Haripur area of Delhi. Family members said the five friends had left their homes around 9pm on Sunday.
