A six-year-old boy in Pilibhit, suspected of having dengue fever, died after a delay in medical treatment. His father was transporting him to a government health facility when their motorcycle became stuck in a muddy road. This incident highlights the critical need for timely access to healthcare, especially in cases of serious illnesses like dengue, which can rapidly worsen without prompt intervention.
“Suraj arranged medicines from a local practitioner in Haripur, but without access to essential diagnostic facilities, the treatment could not save the boy,” Prakash said. However, SDM of the Gola circle Yugantar Tripathi told TOI that he had “not received any previous complaint about the condition of the road”. “Now that the matter has come to my notice, I will get the road’s condition examined urgently and take necessary action for its construction to prevent any such incidents in the future,” he said.
He added that the jungle road had been in poor condition for a long time and that repeated pleas to the district administration, the local MLA and the chief minister’s office for its construction had gone unheeded.
