Post-mortem of a 14-year-old boy found dead in Maharajpur on Friday confirmed strangulation as the cause of death
Kanpur: A 14-year-old boy who died under suspicious circumstances in Maharajpur two days ago was allegedly strangled to death, a postmortem examination confirmed on Saturday.
He said the teenager had objected after finding the two together at their house at around 9 pm on Thursday. The boy’s mother has been taken into custody, while police are searching for her alleged lover, according to police commissioner Raghubir Lal. His mother and her alleged partner then assaulted him and allegedly strangled him to death, police said. Police said the boy’s younger brother also witnessed the assault and ran to another room after getting frightened. The younger brother also repeated the same version after being instructed by his mother, police said. Villagers said the accused later returned to his house and allegedly attempted suicide by hanging himself, but his family members rescued him. Police said further action would be taken after receiving his written complaint.
However, residents noticed injury marks on the boy’s neck and face and alerted the police. A forensic team collected evidence from the house, and the body was sent for postmortem examination to ascertain the cause of death. He later fled. Download the TOI App.
To mislead villagers, the woman allegedly told them that her son had developed stomach pain and died late on Thursday night. The boy’s father, who works at a private factory in Gujarat, reached Kanpur on Friday evening.
