Voting will be held here on October 13 and the counting of votes will take place on October 15. Kanpur: Deputy commissioner of police (West) SM Qasim Abidi inspected polling centres and booths ahead of the by-election for chairperson of Bithoor Nagar Panchayat. He reviewed security arrangements and directed the officers to ensure adequate police deployment at all polling centres and to remain alert and prepared. He also directed them to ensure that voting is conducted fairly, peacefully and smoothly, in strict compliance with Election Commission’s instructions and the prescribed protocol. Preparations for the by-election for the post of chairperson in Bithoor Nagar Panchayat of Kanpur Nagar have begun rapidly. District magistrate Mahendra Singh Tanwar has issued necessary instructions to officials to conduct the election in a fair and peaceful manner. Nirmala Singh who had been the Nagar Panchayat chairperson for five consecutive terms, and now a by-election is going to be held after her death. The BJP has fielded Rana Samarendra Singh, brother of BJP MLA from Bithoor Abhijeet Singh Sanga, as its candidate.
